At the DeGroote School of Business, our support begins the moment you start exploring your graduate school options and continues well beyond graduation. Whether you’re researching programs or preparing to apply, our Admissions team is here to provide personalized guidance every step of the way.

Our admissions process takes a well-rounded view of each candidate—considering academics, experience, references, and more to form a complete picture of your potential.

For early-career professionals and recent graduates, the Master of Management in AI and Analytics offers a 16-month, full-time, in-person experience launching September 2026. With a strong focus on analytics, strategy, and communication, the program includes an eight-month practicum and four-month industry work term for hands-on learning, and is ideal for those with backgrounds in STEM, Business, or Economics.

Application deadlines

Prospective students are advised that the program is still subject to formal approval.

Applications for our September 2026 cohort will open in September 2025 and decisions are typically made within 4-6 weeks of the application deadline.

 

Application rounds

Applications for the September 2026 cohort will be reviewed in three rounds:

  • Round 1: November 26, 2025
  • Round 2: February 28, 2026
  • Round 3: May 30, 2026

Admission requirements


Degree

Completion of an Honours Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. Preference for degrees in Engineering, Science, Computer Science, Stats, Math, Business or Economics.

  1. Minimum of one university level course in mathematics, statistics, computer programming (expectation is that these courses will have been completed in the last 5 years)
  2. Students from other backgrounds or without the necessary course perquisites listed above will be considered if they can provide evidence of comparable skills experience and/or training as detailed in their personal essay and CVs

Work Experience

Although work experience is an asset, no post-graduate work experience is required.

GPA

Recommended B average (equivalent to a McMaster 8.0 GPA out of 12) or higher.

GPA will be calculated using the two most recent years of undergraduate or graduate study, 20 courses, or the equivalent of 60 academic credits. A combination may be used and is determined on a case-by-case basis.

 

GMAT or GRE

Not required. Candidates may be encouraged to submit to strengthen their application. Candidates will need to demonstrate evidence of a high level of proficiency in quantitative courses in their application materials.

English language proficiency

Required for applicants:

  • Whose previous degree was not completed with the language of instruction being English.
  • Who have been residents in an English-speaking country for less than four years.
  • Who have completed less than three years of full-time post-secondary education with English as the primary language of instruction, excluding ESL courses.
  • Acceptable English Language Proficiency Tests:
  • Academic IELTS (Overall score of 7)
  • TOEFL (Overall score of 100)

References

Two (2) references are required. Applicants are encouraged to seek one academic and one professional (current or former direct supervisor or manager) reference. If this is not possible, two academic or professional references are acceptable.

Kira online interview

Applicants are required to complete an online interview prior to the submission of their application. We also encourage you to carefully review the application instructions, deadlines and required.

Applicants will receive the Kira interview link one (1) business day after starting their application and completing the Select Program section. If you require any accommodation for the interview, please reach out to mbaadmissions@mcmaster.ca.

Applicants may be invited to an additional one-on-one interview with a member of our Career and Professional Development team after the submission of their application.

Professional resume

A professional resume is required for application. All applicants are encouraged to utilize the DeGroote School of Business template. Please complete all sections of the template to the best of your ability.

Application fee

A $150.00 CAD application fee is required for application to each DeGroote Master’s program. Payment must be made at the time of application by credit card. Please note that applications will not be reviewed until all components are completed and received
