The program changed the way I think about AI by showing me that it is much more than a technology tool — it is a powerful business enabler. I now see AI as a way to augment human decision-making, improve project outcomes, increase productivity and uncover insights from data that can lead to better business decisions and innovation. It also reinforced the importance of combining technical capabilities with strong leadership to successfully drive AI adoption within organizations.

Courses

Two required courses are MMGMT 700 and MMGMT 701 and one elective is selected from MMGMT 702 or MMGMT 703. The grades for each course will be based on a combination of participation, quizzes, and assignments.

MMGMT 700 is a required course.  It includes a 2-day residency at the Ron Joyce Centre.

With cloud services, the tools to leverage data and artificial intelligence (AI) have become easier to use and more readily available for professionals, managers and leaders to use to drive organizational success. This unique course teaches how to drive digital transformation through the build of a data and AI strategy. Students will learn and apply collaborative planning techniques using whiteboards for ideation, organize and manage using an Objective & Key Results (OKR) framework supported by modern reporting tools, and improve their ability to drive organizational alignment by incorporating data and AI into their leadership approach.

Learning outcomes:

  • Build and present a real-world data and AI strategy
  • Align teams using OKRs and KPIs
  • Redesign workflows for AI-supported decision-making
  • Analyze use cases across industries

MMGMT 701 is a required course that is delivered fully online through synchronous and asynchronous lessons and small group coaching. Course taught by Dr. Ryan Tessier.

This course provides leaders with the tools to harness artificial intelligence (AI) for strategic decision-making, focusing on practical use cases across industries. Participants will explore generative AI, AI-Driven Business Assistants, and prompt engineering (an artificial intelligence technique that involves crafting precise inputs to guide generative AI models in producing specific, high-quality outputs) to enhance data analysis, management insights, and business strategy development. Students will leverage LLM tools to explore and apply AI agent capabilities to produce business content like summaries, reports, and drafts, enabling them to create initial drafts and refine their content with AI assistance. This will include prompt engineering techniques to enhance management and leadership outcomes.

By the conclusion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Use generative AI and AI assistants for planning and productivity
  • Apply AI tools to real organizational tasks
  • Develop a working leadership toolkit based on your AI strategy
  • Lead teams through AI-integrated change

Prerequisite(s): MMGMT 700

MMGMT 702 is one of two elective options. This course is delivered fully online with a mix of live and on-demand content. Course taught by Dr. Ryan Tessier.

This course exposes students to the broad spectrum of data (a collection of raw facts, figures, or observations that represent information about objects, events, or phenomena). Participants gain an overview of how products are built with data, as it is taken in by computing systems (structured, semi-structured and unstructured). Participants also look under the hood of how modern data products and improvements are built in a professional setting.

Students will identify the core principles of data storage, describe the functions of cloud data lake and database services for handling large-scale data, and recognize SQL database structures. They will demonstrate basic querying techniques and apply foundational skills to manage and retrieve data effectively for business analysis.

By the conclusion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Apply technical skills to implement a data-first strategy
  • Use cloud platforms and dashboards for real-time insights
  • Manage structured and unstructured data
  • Build fluency in modern data tools and architectures

MMGMT 703 is one of two elective options. This course is delivered fully online with a mix of live and on-demand content. Course taught by Dr. Ryan Tessier.

This course teaches the broad spectrum of AI tools. This course gives participants an overview of how products are built with AI and a look under the hood of how AI products and improvements are built in a professional setting.
